fallkniven - general opinions?

Love em. Have or had A1, S1,F1, GP,Kolt, Juni &Volcano. All are solid performers. Price was initially tough to swallow, but once I had and used I have no desire to carry anything else. Can't recommend enough. Good luck

They're great knives and fairly reasonably priced. I have the F1 and S1 and they are comfortable and keep an edge well. The F1 is the one that started the Bushcraft and survival knife addiction for me. There's nothing fancy about them but they work. There are quite a few Youtube videos on them. This is the one that sold me

I'm extremely pleased with the little Kolt. Nothing too fancy, but a very well done, solid, efficient knife with a perfect convex edge that cuts (almost) effortlessly through (almost) anything. Really impressive and one of the most pleasant to handle of all my knives. I will definitely buy another Fällkniven despite the (rather) high price because you get what you pay for : quality and performance. And well... I must admit, the Kolt is rather good looking in my book !

I've been very happy with my PXL and NL5 Idun. I gave a TK3 to a buddy and he raves about it.

Great knives and I was just thinking of picking up another one.

Currently the Fallkniven A1 is my in-production grail knife. I think the price reasonable to low and the quality is superb. Compare the A1 to the Temperance 2, for example, same price point, far better value on the A1 (more steel, and laminated). I love their plastic sheaths. I generally hate sheaths that come with knives, but the A1 plastic is perfect for me. To underscore this point: if I could only have one knife for all tasks I would choose the A1.

One of the few brands I'd buy without even researching it. They are great knives. I'd buy one without hesitation. It's like a Grayman--if you like the look of it just buy it---no issues.

Agreed.... I've owned fallkniven fixed and folders for years and have never had any issues with one of them. Some are rather classy knives that fit in anywhere, while others are users that have stood up to anything I've thrown at them.

I got an F1 a few months ago and was really impressed with it. Very sharp no nonsense knife. I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of their other offerings.

Fallknievens are in my humble opinion one of if not the best production knives on the market. The fixed blades
are all made by Hattori of Seki Japan, and with the design and QC of Fallkniven of Boden Sweden results in knives
whose fit & finish are superb and may actually justify their whopping price tag. Their folders are made by Moki, also a very highly regarded Seki knifemaker. I have an F1, S1 and a Northern Lights NL1 "Thor". As others have mentioned,
if you like it and can afford, no need to do an investigation, just buy it. But- buy it from a reputable dealer.

I only have the F1, but its all I need. Been able to handle what I require it to, with no fuss.
I would recommend without hesitation.
Must say, I like the look of the little WM1 too.

Definitely buy from a reputable dealer and do your research about the fake ones. The F1, S1, and A1's imitations are the most common from what I've read. I purchased my first one on Amazon and it was the real deal. Then I went on Ebay and thought I was getting another one that was a decent price $80 for a new one, but it turned out to be a Chinese knock off. I figured it out after the guy shipped it, but when I contacted Ebay about the false advertisement the guy gave me my money back. The knife arrived and I contacted the seller to return it. He ended up giving me the knife for free, rather than him paying for me to ship it back.

The main differences are the Chinese ones do not have the laminated blade, which you can see on the real ones. The sheaths are also different because the real ones have excess material on the button snap for the kydex sheath to make it easier to unsnap. Also, the rivets are different on the sheath. There is a difference in the box as well, where the real ones interior of the box is brown cardboard color. The fakes are white and match the exterior of the box. This was as of middle of last year, but you can probably research more about it because the knock off companies will probably change things to make them look more authentic. Obviously, you can tell the difference in overall craftsmanship if you compare real versus fake.

Excellent but overpriced. If you've money to burn, buy several.

I don't understand how people say that they are overpriced in a world where people drop a fair bit more on other brands. The fallknivens are well thought out, use good materials and have a great reputation. They aren't cheap by any means, but neither are ESEE, Busse, Becker, Survive or any other brand people respect. you can buy a few lesser knives for the same money, but quality costs a little more, and with the beating my F1 has taken over the years and the fact that it's still my go to small utility knive, i think the $130 i spent on it has paid itself off more than once.

$130 did not get you 25% to 50% "more quality" than others that will do just as good a job. I can get a Becker BK2 (Companion) for 60% of the Fällkniven F1. I also find it rather amusing, and pitiful, actually, that the Fällkniven is made in Japan, not Sweden, yet commands a "European-made" price. The BK2 is US-made. And, no, the VG-10 does not justify that higher price or imply "higher quality."

I have had many knives over the years and the F1 is still my "go to" knife. The design is just about perfect with the convex edge and laminated steel. The VG-10 core takes a screaming sharp edge and is very durable, while the 420J outer layers are extremely tough and stain resistant. The handle seems small at first but is perfect for gloved hands and the sheath is very small and supremely functional.

It is a knife that seems a bit underwhelming out of the box but truly shines in the field. It is the only knife that I have two copies of; a user and a NIB for my collection.
