I have recently bough a Fallniven Odin NL2 and the knife is really good and I like it very much. But I have a little problem. Sometimes when I cut something a little bit more hard the handle creaks. I am not sure that this is the correct word for this, but it sounds like two part are grate each other. This sound is very short. It is only one "tick". I do not know how to explain with my poor English. it is not a big deal but it is annoying. I have tried to unscrew the bolt at the bottom of the handle but this thing is just unscrewable. Moreover it is very soft and I have already scratched it on some places. So I would like to you ask you people what should I do? Should e try to find such specific screwdriver and unscrew the bold and just look inside what is making this sound and try to fix it with some glue or put some gasket. It seems the sound is not coming from the blade inside the handle but it comes from the handle itself, because the sound appears when I hold the handle with two hands (with three fingers only) and try to bend the handle. The creak is short - only one "thick", but can I fix it? I would like to hear your thoughts about that, because I am clueless. :(
I hope you have understood me.

Thank you.

i was respond in french because i was thinking that you where french and because my english is really poor!

The problem doesn't affect the functionality of the knife. It's just annoying, right? You're probably going to have to re-handle the thing to get it to stop creaking. Most people would probably say just to forget about it. BUT, it would annoy the heck out of me, and I would just go ahead and re-handle it, probably with Micarta or G10, or maybe even some nice ironwood.

i know that i must be respectuous so this is what i was trying in my french answer for Prestige....so Prestige dont like my french answer so he try to give my a lesson...

Who knows what that was all about....

Let's get back to the handle. It sounds easy to fix....

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …

It was just a matter of time.

Something tells me this guy should not be looking for Brass Knuckles. :D.

If this a stacked leather handle. You might be able to aply boiled linseed oil to the leather. If it will soak into the leather that should get rid of the creaking. I have also mixed some acetone with the boiled linseed oil for the first few applications to get it to soak in a little deeper and faster. If the handle seems solid and not loose this allpication should solidify the layers and silence the noise.
Hope this helps.

Try soaking the handle in Neatsfoot oil for a quick fix. The oil may expand the leather enough so that it tightens up on the tang.
