I have been looking at the Fallkniven TK3 knife. Based on the reviews here in the forum the blade steel sounds very promising. I would like to know if any of you members have this or have had a chance to use this knife? Also is the blade a convex edge hard to tell for the pics and if you have any pictures of it please post thanks...!

Don't have it but the knife has rec'd accolades from many who've bought it.

The 3G/VG2 laminate steel is amazing. I'm purchasing the TK1 fixed blade in the same steel and same Cocobolo scales.

The steel is similar in performance to the ZDP189 that many feel have set the standard in edge cutting performance. The SGPS steel (Super Gold Powder Steel) is fine grained and allows for a very narrow high performance edge similar to the U2.

From what I've read and seen in the catalog, I wouldn't hesitate if I were you. Fallkniven is well known for their convex edges and laminate steels. This is one of their top line introductions rivaling their U2 in edge performance

Don't let the convex edge worry you; it strops up to a spooky edge fast and requires less maintenance from my experience. It's also a strong edge that can take a bit more wear and tear as a utility edge. :D

I love the classic design of this knife. I wonder why they dont make it in a larger version. If the blade was 1/2 inch-1 inch longer, I would not hesitate to buy it.

I got the U2, and it's a nice little chap !
Blade is a bit small ... so TK3 and TK4 are probably much better!
It sound a good choice to me

blade12 if you have the money and like the knife i would just get it, i have never read any bad comments about the TK3, TK4 or U2, i was going to get the TK3 or TK4 but they are a bit expensive considering you could get a Manix for that much, anyway i have a U2 on the way and will probably get a Manix later

Thanks! TK3 is not as big as i thought, i thought it would be quite a bit bigger than the U2, or maybe the U2 is bigger than i thought, anyway thanks

Good, bad, ugly? Definitely not ugly. That's a gorgeous knife.

I don't have any experience with that knife but I do have a U2 that I'm very happy with.

I'm in the same boat as a few other, never handled a Tk3, but I have a U2 and it is an awesome little knife!

I had a TK3 before but it was too heavy to carry around. TK4 is great, much nicer and more comfortable to use than a U2 (the grip is rounded on the TK4 as opposed to the rather square handle on a U2).

My TK 4 came sharper than any of the spyderco ZDP knives I've bought. They are about the sharpest production out of the box knives that I know of now, in the price range ( I paid less than $100). I'm not sure if the U2 has the same cladding as the VG2 steel cladding used in the "three crown" series, but it shares the same sharpness and factory edge quality anyway. It's a No lube, just keep clean knife. Nice stuff. Joe

From their website:

Elegant, modern folding knives
The folding knives in the Tre Kronor series are lightweight, safe and beautiful. The new edge steel, 3G, is a revolutionary laminated anticorrosive steel, with a core comprising the well-proven powder steel Super Gold Powder Steel (SGPS) and sides of VG2.

It's one that I had heard too, but reread the website when I bought mine. I had to research the others in the VG family also. I've had excellent luck with VG10 and actually prefer it over S30V. It seems to do everything well, though probably is not the best at any one thing.

Paul, do you know if the company was ever sold. There were ads in knife magazines from the owner trying to find a buyer with the vison to keep it intact and build it. He had 2 heart attacks and wanted out but would not part it out. It was all or none, according to the ads.

I'd buy it if I could. Their line is getting better and better. A reputation for quality and a good name along with a very good selection of quality knives. Joe

2. No, as far as I know, the company has not been sold yet.
3. Exactly
