Bad FedEx Ground (terrible)

Hello gents

Anyone else have a horrible experience with FedEx Ground? (Economy)

Ive been waiting for an order from GP knives all week and the tracking # has said out for delivery since Monday morning.
Then, like magic, today (4/6) the tracking updates to "Delivered, Monday 4/3".
Fedex was never here (we have cameras all around) and FANTASTIC neighbors and everyone owns their home here on my street.
+ I work from home, I never leave, and I can see my gate/driveway/street out my window and Fedex never came down my street this week.
in 25 years at this address Ive NEVER had an issue with Fedex in the past never had a package stolen or lost.
My neighbors also confirmed that there's been no fedex delivery driver on our street this week.

Ive called fedex but there's just a robot and no one to talk to - they say "Tracking says delivered" then they hang up.

Anyone else have a similar experience with Fedex Ground? holy crap they're awful

The shipper chose this service (i would have used regular fedex not ground/economy)

Fed X has really gone downhill. I don't think I'll ever use them again.
Try shipping a firearm. Fed X and UPS will no longer allow you to ship one yourself, it has to go through a FFL.
The only other option is USPS, anyone can ship one through them. Registered mail is the best option but priority mail works also depending on the value. 50,000 limit on registered mail and 5,000 priority mail.
 
It's all pretty bad, I went to buy a click and ship label on usps the other day like I've done a hundred times from the same account, and they denied two credit cards and my paypal account upon checkout. Actually charged my card, then refunded it immediately. Looked it up and it's a common problem of peoples accounts getting randomly flagged as security risks.. takes weeks to get cleared again. Same account I'd been using for 4 years, same credit card.

Said to hell with it and went over to sign up for pirate ship, total $8.30 vs $10.40 at usps.com... they can suck it.
 
We were expecting a custom Hinderer XM-24 hellfire via FedEx, I stayed home on Saturday because it said it would be delivered that day. I got a notification that it was delivered on my phone, went outside, and nothing. I drove around looking for a Fedex truck and couldn't find any. A signature was actually required for the delivery but they ignored that. Worst part was the seller didn't pay for insurance and had to take the loss.
If there is one thing I've learned is to ALWAYS pay for the insurance for any item of any cost. When you pay the extra dollars for insurance, it's almost like a guaranteed delivery because they don't want to pay out a claim. It's worth the extra cost for shipping. I strictly use UPS though; FedEx can suck it.
 
I’ve despised FedEx for a long time now. Every time a signature is required, the package never arrives here. I’ve been working from home for the last three years as well, so I see everything coming and going in and out of my driveway. Their tracking info is never accurate, and on multiple occasions they’ve claimed there was nobody home for a signature when they were never anywhere near my house. One time I watched the guy park on the street, walk all the way up the 100’ driveway, then heave the box onto my front step instead of taking the extra two steps in to place it there. Unfortunately I was on the phone and couldn’t run out to throw it back at him. That really frosted my cookies. I’ve usually had good experience with UPS, except when they leave stuff in my mailbox instead of at my front door. But that’s just a very minor annoyance.

I've always thought Fedex was the top tier of shipping. I guess that's not the case.
It's so strange that they'd mark as delivered when they never came here. Ive never experienced this before.
They didnt even drive up my street! I have 4 high def cameras outside and nobody ever came to my house except USPS.
My cameras capture all traffic IN and OUT of my tiny street and so do my neighbors cameras.
I spent 3 hours going through this weeks footage and no fedex - no little truck, no big truck - nothing.
I called GP knives and let them know and Gerry is going to file a claim with fedex and reship the knife at no charge (thank goodness) but I did offer to pay for higher tier of shipping service. maybe overnight is better who knows. I'm still totally disappointed in Fedex. : /

FedEx sucks, period, anywhere in the country from what I’ve seen. I once had a package make its way across 7 or 8 different states, twice, before it was finally lost in transit.
 
I've been happy with express the few times I've used it. Ground can be a little spotty.
 
Yes unfortunately all shipping methods and costs are terrible these days…more expensive and worse service. I think the big shopping center (A%$zo@) has definitely affected this due to guarantee shipping delivery dates pushing them forward and overloading carriers. I know FedEx actually dropped them after one year contract bc of unrealistic expectations etc.
That doesn’t explain the stolen and missing stuff that is happening with more regularity ☹️👎🏼
 
once years ago I had a firearm and mags recall....it was all replaced by maker and sent FedEx to my house and required signature of course as it's a firearm. so I see it's delivered, but wife's out of town so I'm scratching my head. got home and there it sits on my doorstep. so i called them to complain that a neighborhood kid could have gotten it and bad things could have happened. they didn't really care at all. signature was forged by the driver and all and they were fine with that. even though I had video of driver leaving it without getting a signature. in the end it left a bad impression on me of these independent contractor drivers they use.
 
FedEx ground is usually delivered by independent contractors. You pays your money and you takes your chance.

I'll def buy from them again. I'm still a bit surprised how bad fedex ground service is now. I feel like Archie Bunker complaining about young people.

Yeah, FedEx is my absolute last choice. I've been lied to about packages being delivered and had damaged packages from them very consistently, much more so than through DHL, UPS, or USPS.
 
Fedex ground has always delivered poor efforts in my area, but perhaps others have had better luck. They sometimes use weather as an excuse, which makes sense when they are shipping from the East coast to the West coast during winter; however, most of the time they use a generic description of the problem that tells me nothing. They are a few days late about 80% of the time - again, in my experience, which may not be the same as others. Perhaps I'm just tremendously unlucky. On the other hand, USPS has been very dependable and UPS has delivered on time about 75% of the time.

I think the results of various carriers are location-dependent;i.e-inconsistent management across various Fedex offices.
