Ive been taking a look at the Fehrman Last Chance fixed blade knife, and was wanting to get some word on how well made they are, and if the materials used are any good, and how good they are. I am thinking of getting one pretty soon, so i just want to see what everyone thinks.

Absolutely no question that they are of the best quality. If you like the style they are excellent knives.

what about the Fehrman Peacemaker? i think that looks like a nice little knife?

Get one - you won't be disappointed. Got mine earlier in the week.

Track back a few days on this forum and you'll see a few recent threads on Fehrman. Also, there are numerous vids on Fehrman on YouTube made by BF members. In in the end, whichever one you go with... you won't be disappointed. Give us an idea of what you'll be using your Fehrman for.

Here's a link that might help on the review forum.

hey thanks, i think ill go with the Peacemaker, which is better, satin or black crackle? the black looks pretty neat, would it scratch as much as the satin, or will the coating chip away? My birthday is in a few weeks so i want to buy myself a present, haha

Depends. I love the look of Fehrman's satin knives, and their outstanding fit and finish, but 3V corrodes pretty easily, and will eventually get some specks, even small pits that you can't get out.
The black coating will wear, but will protect the blade, and costs less.
Either way is a compromise. I suppose the coating makes more sense.
I had the longer Shadow Scout, but sold it. Wonderful knife, but came with a swedge I didn't want, and didn't replace an older knife I had that basically had the same function. The Peace Maker would get my money in a heartbeat if I didn't have a couple of knives covering it's uses, already, too. It looks about perfect to me.

Did your S/S "corrode"?

Seriously. Every time we discuss Fehrman someone posts about the common misconception of cpm-3v corroding quickly. WHAT?

Look at the reviews, look at the corrosion YouTube vids that Kyley put up. Geez.:rolleyes:

Get the satin - 'nuff said. ;)

Rust on the blade is a misconception? Every time I see Fehrman discussed someone posts the complete and total lie that CPM-3V is a stain resistant steel, which it is not. Why would I need to look at a review when I bought the freaking knife?

Seems ironic that you're posting a complete lie when saying that Fehrman's 3V "corrodes pretty easily".

Do you see me say that it's stainless? No.

Now, why don't you go ahead and answer the question - did your Shadow Scout "corrode" or "rust"? Of course, you're gonna say 'yes' - without any proof; just to back up your point.

Look at all the videos on YouTube, all the reviews on here (where a gentleman left his Fehrman out in the wet for an overnighter... and it was just fine).

So, either back up your stuff or stop misleading with your misconception of the corrosion resistance of the 3V as used on Fehrmans. Otherwise, your post is useless and damaging to the original poster.

Mine does not corrode, as I oil my non-stainless blades from time to time :)
I am sure that it would not corrode overnight no matter what :)

That pic looks awfully familiar there, Gress. :D;)

Nice shot!

By the way, I've been carrying mine around the neck on paracord. I also like how it rides horizontally on my belt using a tek-lok.

I don't know what your problem is, and I couldn't care one bit less.
I've got well over 4000 posts here without a lie among them, and am not going to start by bashing an excellent steel, from a fine maker in a design I love.
It rusts, so you little fanboys can get over it. Yes, my satin finished Fehrman got surface rust just from being inside the house. You could wipe it off, but rust. No, I don't have pics of a knife that was sold years ago. CPM-3V is a carbon steel, and requires maintenance, or it will rust. Every potential buyer indeed does need to know that.

Thanks. That helped me realize that replying to your post in the first place was a great waste of time.
