Decided to post a review on my Fehrman Peacemaker.
I became a Busse guy lately and have been going after Busses for a while, but I missed this little knife and now am very happy to get it from a forumite who decided to part with it.
This knife is the one which to me has the most comfortable grip and one of the better frame geometry available. The cpm-3v steel is very good and IMO should be on par with other better steels around. The treatment done by Fehrman yields very tough blade and I (as I am sure many others too) would like to see a full destruction test similar to the one done on the Busses by knifetests.com.
Now to my particular knife. I got it from a previous owner in good used condition.
The knife is #164 which makes me believe it was made few years back. Once I got it I took care of little scratches on the blade and although it was very sharp I decided to give it few runs over my diamond Vee.
The blade is scratch free now and is really sharp. It is very easy to take care and sharpen.
Today I decided to compare it to three other knives which in some respect the Peacemaker will compete with for a place in my daily and weekend activities. The knives are:
1. Busse AD (which I use as my go to knife in my garage),
2. Busse SAR4 (which I use as a yard / camping knife) and
3. Strider SnG (hich I carry on trails and my dog walks).
Here is the AD and the Peacemaker:
The Peacemaker has a bigger blade with almost same size handle. I immediately felt that it is way more comfortable for my hands. All in all it is probably THE most comfortable little knife I ever handled. Fehrman is a better slicer too, as my AD is thicker. On a flip side I definitely would go to my AD for any job involving some heavy prying/pulling.
Next the Peacemaker is pictured with the SAR4. SAR4 is a bigger knife and perhaps should be compared to Fehrmans Last Chance, but it is also IMO one of the better slicers in Busses line and has excellently executed grind which makes the blade feel thinner.
To be continued)
