Ive been looking to buy a anvil here in the south of Sweden now that Ive moved to the country side an am ready to sett up shop. The bigger anvils disappear in a heartbeat in this end of the county so when I found this in a near by dodgy coastal town I drove there at 21:30 friday night and picked. It used to belong to the old town jail. I gave
300 $ for it with the stump. It rings like a bell and a small hammer bounces like a rubber ball. Do you guys think this will be a good firs anvil?

Almost no light passing under the chinese.

The indenting of the foot print is over half an inch deep.

Kohlswa is one of the very best anvils ever made. That you managed to get a 200# model for less than $2/lb is also fantastic. That said example is in such beautiful condition.... well, let's just say that you found the trifecta of deals and are set for life!

The Kohlswa is solid cast steel and will last you for the rest of your years. I wouldn't bother doing anything more to it than setting it on a decent stump so that it's at the right height for you, and then get to pounding on it.

You can deaden the ring considerably if you bed it in silicone caulk. This forms a joint between the anvil and stump that, for some reason, takes out 90% of the ring. Very handy thing to do for anvils like that.

I'll give ya $305 for it if you cover shipping!! Nice score. I've been looking for quite a while too.

This caused me to pause for a second... and then laugh. ;) :D

Great score!!!

Somebody was a bit abusive to the edges, but it looks to be in great shape overall... and I know they are a quality anvil with great performance.

Congrats, I definitely appreciate your excitement! :)
