Hey everyone!
I've always lusted after the Benchmade SOCP, but I was hesitant to buy one because of their perception as only a weapon and not a tool. Well, today I placed my order for a Benchmade SOCP Rescue! I'm so excited! Does anyone have any experience with this model? Thanks!

Same sheath as his previous models. I'm still using the one I got in 2010 on my plate carrier. I just replaced my dagger with the new tool.

I've never had the previous model; always wanted to get one, but I can't carry a fixed blade on duty and off duty it seemed like it would scare the sheeple if anyone ever saw it. I might just get one anyway...I've wanted the single edge serrated version for long enough!

Texas knife laws are pretty reasonable, but they don't permit carrying double edged knives and I strongly suspect the serrated edge would still count against that proviso.

I'd be interested in a true single edge version but I doubt Benchmade will ever make any.

I have been carrying one of the plain edged ones for a while now. Have considered typing up a review. The steel, may not be as good as the more expensive spartan blades version, to us, but who needs edge retention on a dagger, it is not appropriate for EDC tasks, really a sole purpose weapon. The sheath is fantastic and very versatile. Could be clipped iwb, if you're into that, mine rides clipped into cargo pocket, weak side, with a short length of cord attaching the bottom holes on sheath to clothing, button hole, etc. If you wanted it for plate carrier carry it will slide behind a three mag shingle and clip on, or you can remove the clip and attach anywhere desired with included para cord.

The blade is well designed, easy to draw with only the index finger and falls right into the proper grip. Definitely a light weight, easy option to increase your capability in a defensive role.

I dont have much need for glass breakers, but I did just order one of the new grey ones from knife center with the double edges, serrations and so forth. They are reasonably priced and cant hurt to try out. I think part of the procedes benefit some of our warfighters so win, both ways.

Best of luck, let us know how you like it.

The original serrated version is a true single edge.

On the rare case that any of these get used, I doubt it would matter whether it is serrated or not. This knife is only sharpened a couple of inches either way. It pokes a medium sized hole. I am not a fan of serrations either, but I don't think they will help or hinder the intended performance of this knife.
