I have a Camillus automatic paratrooper knife. the one with the orange handle & hook. The backspring has broken on it. I need to find a replacement spring or just the schematics for it so I can make one. does anyone know where I could find the schematics for this knife, or a replacement spring? I greatly appreciate your time in looking into this.
take care
Matthew

The backspring, or the kick spring?
I can't see how you could break the backspring-it's pinned rigidly in place.

Being an early Vietnam era knife makes this knife over 50 years old. I don't know if you meant for your reply radiate snark, but it does. are you not aware that springs wear out. I apologize for my own snarky tone. but now that that's out of the way; do you know of anywhere I could find a replacement spring. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. Thank you for taking the time to reply to me.

I wasn't being snarky then, but I am now.
Do you know the difference between the backspring and the kickspring?
The kick spring is what opens the blade.
Do I know where you can get one? Yes, I am the authorized repair station for Schrade.
I don't sell parts, but I can repair your knife.

I do not know what the difference is. The spring that broke is a leaf spring, that attached under a brass rod/rivet. nothing else came out when that broke, so I believe it's just the leaf spring that is broken. I've had a hell of a time trying to find the schematics of this knife. I know there is a spring that pushes the trigger button out. are there more than just the two springs in this knife? More importantly, how much would it cost to repair. I have the brass rods in the correct diameter to replace the old rivet, so I thought I could just replace the leaf spring & brass rivet to fix it. Again Thank you for your time

I apologize to you, I miss read your first comment. my comprehension gets skewed sometimes while reading, & I end up with a completely different understanding of the message that was intended to be portrayed. I apologize again. I completely mistook the tone of the comment you gave me. I always reread things to make sure I'm correctly understanding the meaning. I'm sorry for not looking your response over again to make sure. I looked it over once & thought you meant something more like this-
The backspring? "scoff" don't you mean the kick spring?
I can't see how you could break the backspring-it's pinned rigidly in place.
I thought you were just correcting my flawed terminology, & responded poorly. I again thank you for your time, your help, & thank you for letting me know what part I'm actually looking for.

Technically, you can remove the rivet holding the spring in place, then replace the spring and rivet.
Doing so properly, however requires experience, skill, and the proper tools-otherwise the repair can devalue the knife.
Your knife is the MC-1 model. A spring for any make of this model should work. There may be springs available-I don't know, as I make my own.
