I thought I would push myself a little harder this year. This is a w's pattern that I radial cut then stacked in a square. then of course accordian cut. overall length is 15", the blade length is 9". 1084 and 15n20 for the steels. The S guard was a couple of the accordian cuts welded together and flaten out. The spacer is from the next billet that will be a future knife in the making. The ironwood handle is of course some of my favorite. with a nice little 1/16" doomed pin.

Very nice Bruce, that Damascus is outstanding.

Bing- this is one SWEET bowie. There are a lot of really nice things going on here. This is still your same style as before but you've really upped your game here on this one.

The damscus pattern is awesome, I love the shape of the guard and you nailed the bend in the quillions, in my opinion. That spacer is really cool and the handles shape is very nice. The profile and whole over all 'flow' of this one is perfect.

And, as always, your fit and finish is near flawless.

For the first knife in 2013 it's excellent. I can't wait to see the knives you're making at the end of this year.

Really nice job on this.

Hi, Bing.

I really like the shape of the guard and the decoration of the spacer.

However, and maybe it is just a photographic artifact, but to me the Damascus on the guard and spacer seems to clash with that of the blade, and appears to be much darker. I generally prefer that the patterns be the same, or if they are different that they flow together and complement each other. Also, there appears to be some misalignment or space where the spacer meets the ironwood (it looks like maybe the end of the ironwood is slightly larger than the spacer).

But those are just minor personal quibbles. Overall, a very nice knife. Keep up the good work.

Love the damascus and the overall lines. Were I picking nits, my personal preference would be for a slightly shorter ricasso.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

Thanks for your comments. The guard and spacer are just a little darker than the blade. My pics make that look even darker. As for the handle to spacer fit. That was a design element of leaving the Ironwood proud. Even though Ironwood is fairly stable. The humidity from one region to the next is not stable.

Roger, thanks for pointing this out I really struggle with this on my knives. I have such a long name that I may need to try a smaller makers mark. Another option would be to etch my mark somewhere on the blade.

Thanks again everyone

I think it's a great piece and that steel is top notch. I also wanted to say congratulations on the great write up in Blade:thumbup:
