First Mega patina attempt

I’ve had the best results by cutting hot meat while cooking. Bed, chicken, pork, doesn’t matter the animal.
Make the cut while the meat is still Rare. That works best.
I suppose I should try to put the meat/blood on the entire blade. But I haven’t tried that yet. Maybe with the mega warden

I know deer blood dose a nice job.

On my Ratweiler I kinda wanted the look of decarb without the actual decarb layer so I bead blasted it and put a little cold bluing on it. I've heard some say that it shouldn't be used for food prep but I'm not worried about it.

My experience exactly. It's the iron in the meat that reacts with the steel.

Acidic stuff, tomatoes, jalapenos etc. Are what I'll be using.

I cant frigging wait for the max warden to show up.

So I did a thing today... Was going to try to do a spray bottle patina, but we don't have a spray bottle that I can use that won't end in the CFO/CEO/Boss firing me.

So I bought a bottle of mustard, and used the remainder of the white vinegar I had. First layer was 30 minutes, then 50 minutes for the 2nd layer.
Painted the edge with some old nail polish that the wife had... but I think aggressively wiping it off with polish remover kinda tamed/buffed one side, so I just let the other side soak, and it was better.

Very cool! Nice!20200402_181909.jpg

Here's my fail safe patina recipe.
Rare burgers with bbq sauce. Works every time.

The cheese curds and olives are just fluff.

Although not Swamprat, the scrapivore LE helped gobble those beef Patty's right up.

That'll do nicely. Good work!

Thanks for the encouragement, guys!
I wasn't initially planning on doing any sort of pattern... but it was what I felt like doing at the time (and without a spray bottle).

I will try to source a bottle to try the spray patina on an eRATicator, and try to do a meat-based patina on a coming Mega Swamp Warden if they don't come with a clear coat...

If anyone else has any SR-101 patina, I'd love to see more!!! Show them off!!

For one of my katanas I soaked a few t shirts in white vinegar and wrapped the whole blade tight in the shirts, and let the katana sit in my tub all night. Take off shirts, soap and water on the blade, stat.. then some wd 40 and the harder side of a new dish sponge, took off all the shit, and it left a nice patina on there. Mustard works great as well.

Only other one I have handy at the moment. Hot vinegar bath patina after a fair bit of use. Still looks pretty much the same today (ETA - with some sheath rub marks).

That's a nice pheasant you got there!
I'm looking forward to getting a few again this year... If I can get out and hunt at all.... (maybe some woodcock or grouse?)
