Greetings all! My name is John Fisher and I wanted to introduce myself to the board as Fisher Blades. I was personally active in the forums for some years but have transitioned from knife collector to knife maker. My story making knives is certainly a common one. As a carpenter and woodworker I have always loved tools and the primal nature of sharp steel in the hand appeals to me like so many others. As Bushcraft became more popular I realized that I had been doing it for years, I just hadn’t realized there was a name for it. As I practiced my skills I concentrated on knives, the primary tool (other than the brain) for Bushcraft. I began searching for perfect knives as legions of others have done before me. After about ten years the planets aligned and I was able to become an apprentice to Andy Roy of Fiddleback Knives. Along with Andy Roy I was lucky enough to be able to work with Joey Berry, Allen Surls, and Dirk Loots. The knowledge those four have of knives is vast. I could’ve spent years learning from each of them.

After a short apprenticeship with Andy it’s taken me a couple years to tie up loose ends, move to Montana and set up shop here. After a fairly slow and long start I’ve teamed up with my brother Chas to form Fisher Blades and we’re now open for business.

The world needs yet another handmade knife company right? At Fisher Blades we’re more than just another knife maker. We may be opinionated but we don’t know everything nor do we act like we do. In all my endeavors I have realized that few are masters of any craft, and I don’t pretend to be a master of knife making or any other craft. One of the things I like most about knife making is that I could do it for a hundred years and still learn something. So we try to push our designs and constantly improve and refine our designs. One of my mottos is “Work Hard and Stay Humble.” Please visit our website at https://fisherblades.com Thanks!

Welcome to the forum John. Your blades look great and have an Andy/Fiddleback look to them.

"We live in a golden age of knives. You can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a couple of knife makers these days."

Good one. Welcome.
