Fishing, and hunting reports (share yours)

That looks like a very scenic area to camp in. Were you able to hike from there? How much area did you scout? And was it private land?
Drove a couple minutes from the camp to hunt, scouted last year when I didn't have a tag, it's all public land about as far as you can see.
I spend time in the area when I fly out to visit my father so I'm somewhat familiar with the area, he lives close to this hunting spot.

Headed out planning on a full weekend hunt from the backpack.
Kind of ghosting my way through the woods going to a spot I know I can glass from, and boom a doe stops to look at me.
I didn’t want to spook her and taint the country so I slipped back around a tree and this little guy was trying to pick her up.
14m shot through the throat (was standing directly head on to me) and one shot flop.

Of course I was a bit further from the truck than I wanted to be, complete with a 15pack of beer for the weekend enjoyment but managed to get the buck cut up and everything loaded in the pack.

All pretty again.
FK2 was nice and nasty after those 3 deer, nasty enough that I pulled the scales this morning to get the goo out from under them. I’m not necessarily OCD about things but I do like to take care of my gear so while it was open I put a light coat of wax on the areas that the handles cover. 2665B941-9477-448E-9D41-6C5935ECCF06.jpeg

45 yards away, caught wind, and bolted. Was super cool. We had 4 cow tags to fill. These 4 bulls came in in under 2 hours. Never did see any cows.

The bulls were very hesitant. They saw our blind 300 yards away. Curiousity got the better of them. Can't wait to get back out. I love elk hunts.

Sounds like a great time! Elk is a dream hunt for me.
Have you ever tried the Hunter Specialties disk/wafers that come in the little brown plastic containers? I started using the Fresh Earth scent a few years ago and I’ve seen a significant, positive difference, in how many deer will get closer to my blind. I hang them with the built in hooks right in the widow so that it masks whatever odors creep off of my old nasty ass and find the window. One can seems to last forever since whenever you put them back in the can they recharge. Well worth the few bucks they cost.
