Fiskars X25 edge roll?

Let me start by saying I'm glad I finally bought one of these axes. It works superb, however, as you can see I appear to be getting some edge rolling. I've barely used this axe (less than a cord of splitting, probably less than a face cord) and this showed up within the first use, I just finally got around to taking a picture. It has never touched dirt, but my firewood isn't perfectly clean either from sitting on or near the ground, rain splatter, etc.

Thoughts?

There has been a LOT of talk about the Fiskars having a very soft edge from the factory. Most people say that once they have filed back the edge just a tiny bit the steel underneath is much better. I had the same experience with a Gerber. It's as if the first 1/16" of edge may get softened up during sharpening or something. I thought my Gerber was a POS till I filed it back a bit.

Sharpen it back up and use it is what most would do I think.

More importantly, how is the grain orientation?

I have owned a few fiskars products and all had the same issue, really good steel in behind there. I think it has actually harmed them quite a bit, they are good tools.

Nice picture, because it is exactly how new Fiskars behave. But as others say it gets better.
Edges are likely overheated a bit when grinding or some problem like that.

Good to know I haven't technically gotten a dud, just the usual. If it's so widespread, wonder if Fiskars is working on it?

Most people don't care. They'll trash the edge anyway and won't ever bother to sharpen it back which is a minor problem as nowadays axes are mostly used to split and as a blunt tool. I've had family "borrowing" a pair of extra hard Takeda Hamono japanese axes I had while I was absent... to cut roots in freakin rocky ground. Not only did they dent the edge but they went on until it had a fully toothy edge. And they did not even understand why I was upset.
