Five purdy "gray turds"

I'm a huge fan of color, but a well exucuted "gray turd" suits me as well. Here are five from my collection that show how many ways there are to make a gray turd.

From top-to-bottom:

  • Steve Dunn (MS) folder - 52100 clip point blade with a convex edge and a hand-rubbed finish. Polished G-10 handles. Titanium bolsters and liners. Liner lock.
  • Andrew McLurkin fancy folder - Mike Norris ladder-pattern damascus blade. Robert Eggerling leaf pattern damascus bolsters. Carbon fiber handles. Gold inlay in the thumb stud. O1 half-length backspacer. Liner lock. This knife won Andrew the "Best New Maker" award at the 2000 Southeastern Custom Knife Show.
  • Microtech M/A Lightfoot LCC - Stonewashed 154CM blade. Bead-blasted titanium bolsters.
  • Kit Carson Medium Model 4 - Talonite drop point blade. Titanium bolsters. Blade and bolsters have Kit's ceramic bead blasted finish. Titanium liners. Carbon fiber handles.
  • R.J. Martin Q30 - CPM440V blade with a two-tone satin finish. Titanium bolsters with an orange peel finish. Carbon fiber handles. Titanium liners.

Me thinks thems is somes nice gray "turds." If I could learn to crap me some "turds" like them, that would be a high paying career.
