I'm sure we've done this before, the idea came up because of another thread.

So, here we go, again.

Are there any fixed blades that you wish had a folding version?

Are there any folding knives you would like to see as a fixed blade?

I'll start with a crappy screengrab of the long-lost folding Izula.

For a folder-to-fixed, I think the easy favorite would be a Bugout. To those who agree, I say: good luck, I looked. Then, having some small skill, I decided to muck about and try to make a knife which would feel similar to a fixed Bugout, but which, obviously, is not a copy of Benchmade's knife. How could it be, after all, when it's a fixed blade?

This is what I came up with.

Not for sale, of course. I don't have the membership level, and it's not heat-treated. I should do something about at least one of those.

I think the swayback design can go back and forth effortlessly...?

In general a folding knife has limits on it’s design, the blade has to fit in the handle the guards are minimal or non existent etc.

Why limit yourself designing a fixed blade with those same parameters? Or vise versa.

I don't think I've ever seen These before.....but they look eerily familiar.

Translating a fixed blade into a folder is an interesting challenge. At least to me, and at least on paper.

Folding knives are more convenient for me to carry. Clip to the pocket, and go.

By the same token, there are times when I really like some thing about the design of a folder, and wish it was executed in a fixed blade, instead. The Bugout is actually a perfect example: it's profile is very bushcraft-knife-like, and a full tang with the same profile and nice thin stock would likely be tops for a lot of people.

I love it!

If I may make a friendly suggestion, the Bugout is known as a lightweight knife. What you have done looks similar in profile but it's gonna be a tank in the hand.
