Mediocre stag, unusual blade edge:

If there wasn't so much patina, you might see a blade etch saying "KINFOLKS TUNGSTEN CARBIDE FLAME EDGE", or so I suspect. As you sharpen the steel side, you expose fresh tungsten carbide, or so the theory goes. The technology was around for thirty or forty years under the KINFOLKS name and then ROBESON. Anybody else got one? T-A

Nice one! I've got a Robeson in nice condition. Looks like it could even be the same blade; what is the length of yours?
Mine measures 5-5/8" from tip to guard.

Interesting to see this on a knife with primary bevel on both sides. You would have to only sharpen it from the non-carbide side in order to maintain the carbide edge. So it is a V-ground blade that should only be sharpened to a chisel edge. I guess it's no different to many serrations which are sharpened the same way. Looks pretty cool, like a san-mai layered steel edge. I like the blade profile as well. I'm a sucker for clip points.
