A small regular Sebenza CGG "Vines" was offered to me and as I like this CGG design a lot and as they are not offered for sale that often, I did not hesitate. Among the later CGG designs made for the Sebenza 21 I always enjoyed the "Gold Leaf" design very much, but never pulled the trigger. Immediately after having the "Vines" regular with me at home I was thinking that a CGG "Gold Leaf" Sebenza 21 would make nice company for the "Vines" regular. I also learned that the "Gold Leaf" is one of this years discontinued CGG designs. One more reason to pick one up. As the "Vines" regular is a small, I ordered the "Gold Leaf" 21 also as a small, although preferring large Sebenza.
So here they are. Both are beauties from my point of view. Some among us over here have preference for the regular. Some for the 21. I think that is not important at the moment. When I was thinking of buying a "Gold Leaf" to team up with my "Vines" I was thinking that they will be very similar when it comes to the execution of the graphics. But now you will see that there is quite a difference in the way the graphics are done. Yes. The style of the floral graphics is a different one. The "Vines" design is more of a straight, modern, simple kind of a design, if you know what I mean. The "Gold Leaf" design looks more like being inspired by some early ages, maybe baroque style.
If you look at the macro shots you will also notice that the way the graphics are machined are different. The "Gold Leaf" graphics seem to be have more depth and width, which makes them appearing more 3 dimensional. Not sure if I can express correctly my impressions. I cannot tell whether the machining techniques have changed between the area of the regular and the 21, or whether this is just a matter of how the graphics are designed at the computer. Anyway. Both are great designs and together I think they are a winning team.
