I'm still pretty novice to watches. Anyone ever heard/have opinions on the "Stunt" brand? www.stuntwatch.com.

I have one, received as a gift about 5 years back and worn about that long. It has, however, taken the curb due to my recent Seiko5 purchase. Nonetheless, I'm curious. Any word on this brand?

Do the Watch wisemen scoff in contempt, or recognize in approval?

Whether it is **** or not, titanium is still pretty cool stuff...

Interesting, I'm not familiar with Stunt watches.

From looking at the web site they seem to be a moderately priced standard quartz watch with a titanium case.

The screw down crown and backlit dial are nice touches, but I would really like to know more about that "patented STUNT shock resistance system". From the very limited description on the site it seems to be a rubber ring that the movement sits in. Not a bad idea, but hardly revolutionary.

I'm also a bit put off by their repeated claims that the use of titanium will result in increased toughness or durability in this application, as in fact it does not.

I got my stunt out today and put it on. From using it for several years, I can say it has performed decently. But, perhaps I don't know what "decent" is in the watch world, as I have never experienced an Omega or Rolex (held one before...) Breitling, etc. etc. of the "high end".

It is lightweight, has a great black face/titanium look, coupled with a pretty looking/feeling bracelet. It is very accurate as well, but I don't have specific numbers on second gain or loss. Love the backlight, which is almost a necessity for me (something that my seiko5 and citizen ecodrive lack). Ratcheting bezel has proved useful every so often to time food in the oven or ETA my laundry in the dryer. Has proved to be water resistant, although to my memory has only been worn on a few kayaking trips (and of course in the showers, rain, etc. Never heavily submerged). Those are some pros, from what I can see as a novice to this niche in the world of collection.

One point of arguement, although this may contribute 'for' or 'against' the item itself. The first year I got this watch, the threads on the crown died. Threads stripped, perhaps due to the user, or because the Ti. heat treat was poor, or because of poor worksmanship, who knows. On the brighter side, Stunt honored their warranty with consideration, and I had a brand new one as a replacement within a few weeks. It has been several years since, and not a reoccuring problem with the crown as of yet. Good and bad news.

As for other observations, I have a feeling that perhaps the patented shock resistance system is just an exaggeration to build up some hype. While it is true this watch has held it's life, I haven't overly abused it to the point that it might break. I do like how the ring rides above the crystal, preventing a LOT of scratches. Both my seiko and citizen have crystals that ride a fraction of a millimeter above bezel, and both show significant signs of wear on the glass despite their mere month or two of rotation.

I replaced the battery a while ago and suggest it has a battery life of perhaps 3-3.5 years. Had this watch been an auto or solar powered, this would be the only watch I have.

My observations, as a newbie. If I can find a way to host, I'll post pics.

Good observations. You're bring a lot to us to digest. I second the scratching problem on the Citizen Eco - it does hang out there.
Now if they would make a one piece top load case, etc, etc,. I do like what I see, tho. Nice stuff.
