Forge press tonnage formula

I am starting to put together a parts like for a hydraulic press and I am wondering if there is a formula I can use to calculate the tonnage of the press based on the GPM of the pump and the motor HP? I am not sure how that works. I am aiming for 25 tons or so and want to make sure the pump is up to the task.

Area of the cylinder in square inches x pressure in psi = pounds of force

Then divide by 2000 pounds to get tons





Ram speed is volume of that cylinder (areas x length ) vs pumpspeed in gallons per
Then make sure you convert from gallons and minutes or hours to seconds


You can just find on line calculators that plug in the #'s and go

I am using 2500 for my PSI measurement,how can I know I will be able to achieve this? Planning on a 5 HP motor at 3600 rpm with an 11 GPM 2 stage pump.
