Hey guys. First time posting. I just had a flash fire interest in collecting knives. I'm
Currently in europe and passing time by sniping low hanging fruit on ebay. Lots of china knives heading home to greet me when I return. So I was shopping around and ran across some interesting knives in a hole in the wall shop. they have"columbia" on the blade, have wood handles, and look very nice. So I started research and it looks like they may be the Columbia Jinlang knives. The sticker price is around 7 dollars usa. It appears that some are folders and some are fixed blades.

In my research, it seems like the talk about these were slim and trailed off around 2011? But the talk was positive. I suspect that this guy may have had them for
some time. The shop is mainly locks and stuff.

So, what do you think? I know some of you will want pics and more info, of will try.

Well, there have certainly been enough views here but no reply. Hmm. Not sure what to think. Maybe no one knows?

No thanks. They are low quality ripoffs, managing to steal from both CRKT and Columbia Sportwear. :barf:

And the only positive talk I have ever heard about these things is coming from you...which leads one to believe (maybe incorrectly) that you are promoting them.

Wow.is this the treatment that you guys give every new member? I have been around a lot of forums, and you folks take the cake. Sorry I'm not a brand name snob yet. But I have watched quite a few videos and read a lot about knives lately.you guys act like a"good" knife should be indestructible. yea, yea, once you drop $200 on a good knife, you never go back. But I remember as a kid, the"good" folders that grandpa carried were not bullet proof. You did not use the blade as a screw driver, it would break. You did not hit it with a hammer, it would break. And so on. these are now collectibles I assume.

Wow. Now I could be a rep for some stupid knife that I came to the forums to learn about because I can't find much about it. Wtf.

I may read here for more understanding and sharpen my edge, but I'm going somewhere else to make conversation.. Smells like ass here.

Thanks for helping.

Well we will certainly miss your conversations about $7.00 cheap Chinese knock off knives. But seriously, use the forum search function and educate yourself on the art form, skill, addiction, etc. Theres a lot of good info here and kind experts ready to help. You will learn that you don't need to spend a lot of money for a quality knife. For a little more than your recent donation to theft, you could purchase an opinel. For a little more than that, a mora. In full disclosure, soon enough you will be dropping hundreds with no regrets. Good luck however it goes.

Such a shame...

Look at it like this: The knife costs 7$. The guy selling them wants to make a profit, so he buys them for lets say 5$ each.
The guy importing them from China wants to make a profit, so he buys them in China for say 2$. The guy manufacturing those knives wants to make a profit...
I think you get my point, right ?

Instead of buying a bunch of crap knives, spend a little moreand buy one of the lower end Kershaws, Spydercos Byrd line or a Ontario Rat 1 or 2. You'll get a knife that you can enjoy for years and you won't risk hurting yourself on cheap crap.

I have one Columbia Jinlang Bowie A11, present from a friend who bought it in Thailand, and I have to say is a good looking knife and extremely sharp. I paracord wrapped the handle for more secure grip, although I would never use it on the field, I have uneasy feeling when I have it in my hand.

I'm not disagreeing with you they shouldn't be ripping them off I'm just saying the knives aren't too bad
they should've just release the knives under another name

I know nothing about "Columbia Knives"

A couple of cheep knives I can recommend of the top of my head.

Opinel 10-12$
Mora 9-15$
Cold steel Kudu 5-9$
various Kershaw knives (some decent ones can be found at around the 15$ range
CRKT Minimalist series 20$
Cold steel Mini Tuff lite 21$

IF anyone wants an extended list just ask.

either way I don't care about brands or names at the end of the day all I want is a good looking knife that can handle a lot of punishment

I agree with klok, crkt and kershaw will be way better then those flimsy chinese things.. still, you carry a knife, thats the most important part

I have inexpensive knives from tramontina and truper tools that are cheap work and dont pretend to be anything else.
I also have a carbon steel scandi from ikea that my brother bought 25years ago. Excellent mora style knife and was cheap enough not to think twice about getting.
