I have some pictures of this piece I would like to share. This is Freyja, named after the Norse goddess of love, war, fertility, and wealth.
Freyja was exhibited at the 1999 Knifemaker’s Guild show. Chris Reeve started with a 2” diameter bar of Damasteel and labored manually to reveal a sweeping 15” blade and finely detailed handle and guard. It is all one solid piece, “no join or weld to break.” The knife is a hair under 20” overall long. Trust me, it’s big. Even though my photos don’t show it.
I’m incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to see this in person. It’s as intricate and refined as it is big.
