I was wondering why I was receiving no new orders on my website huntsmanknifeco.com,

Well turns out my ability to take payments on Squarespace through Stripe has been "Permanently suspended and cannot be appealed"

When I pushed for a reason they said its because I sell "machetes" which has recently been added to the banned list.

This is brutal as I've invested significant time and money into my site and have been forced to refund all outstanding orders, even ones for knives that are not banned. As far as I know, when I created my site and began selling, there was no prohibition on any type of knives.

Here is your friendly reminder that omnipresent "Terms of Service" that can be altered at any time without warning can wipe out your legitimate and lawful business with absolutely no recourse. If Paypal wakes up one morning and decides to ban knife sales, we will be down to doing business with personal checks and money orders.

Seriously, we have to get together and END this "Terms of Service" BS. If we don't, no business is safe from being targeted by these woke companies that want to dictate all aspects of your life.

This is bad. But, it looks like it was Stripe, the payment processor, who caused this issue. Stripe should be added to the title, I think.

Thanks for the info. I’m sorry your business is getting shafted by whatever investors own the payment company. Someone apparently did some math and decided to try and TOS some more profit or less risk at your expense. Seems that way everywhere now.

It is in fact, Stripe, but the terms and conditions violated are those of "Squarespace Payments LLC."

Stripe is the only card processor they support unfortunately.

I think the only reason is to be woke. Payment processors have never had any legal liability for lawful purchases. You can buy a machete a Lowes.

I told them that banning machetes, aside from being nonsensical, is on its face deeply racist. Machetes are not only a necessary tool, but also a deep part of the cultural heritage of Latin American, Asian, and African people across the globe. Each area of the tropics and its people have their own unique variant of the machete that has been refined over generations to meet their needs. Latin style machetes, parangs, bolos, you name it, all of these are incredibly important tools to the people who created them.

Banning machetes and not other edged tools is quite literally targeted at preventing certain demographics of people from getting ahold of a sharp piece of metal that they know how to use.

Wow that’s just sad it is coming to this. I’m sorry you have to deal with it. Anytime I post a for sale I always offer to take check or money order ( usps )
When I stared here the usps money order was it lol. I have a large pile of receipts lol

I read somewhere that Trump Jr. and another partner worked out a payment system because of similar BS for firearms and anything related to firearms. I want to say they had an issue with a bank closing their accounts randomly and without notice even, so they are working on something for that. I need to find the interview as it was at Shot Show this year that it took place.

Credova is one of the names I was able to get from the website, but I don't know if they have a payment system like stripe/square or PP. I do know they have the "buy now, pay later" system in place. I believe PEW will be the payment processor they talk about, which is the future stock market ticker, but I didn't catch the name and haven't had time to dig around in the interview again yet.

Here's the interview. As all things related to 2A, there's some political comments in there but I think the content is overall relevant here.

Maybe Public Square is the right thing, and the payment solution is yet to come, or I'm just misunderstanding. They mention financial challenges for "weapons" retailers as banks and payment processors have become activists, the latter of which has been discussed many times before here with PP.
