Well, there is a knife or two there which I'd like to buy, but caution and hesitation have set in.

Apparently, NO BUYER REVIEWS ANYWHERE to be found, here on BF or elsewhere.

Not saying that my caution is limited to that particular dealer: Internet, Russia, site that is heavily cautioned when trying to enter, etc..

Does it just come down to my appetite for risk, treading where no one else has tread before?

Won't know until someone here chimes in!

Thanks All!!!

There is a certain Russia site that is notorious for selling fakes and clones and has a less than favorable rep around here.

If you patronize them and get ripped off, I wouldn't bother whining about it here.

I would avoid with no reviews. We have a couple or Russia and Ukraine based sellers that frequent the forums here that can quite possibly help find exactly what you're looking for though.

I purchased a ZT 0454204P from them in March 2015 and no issues. From order date to delivery it took about 8 days.

They are great sellers. They are owned and run by the guys who own and operate custom knife factory.

I don't know what site you're talking about, but I'm certain it's not From Russia With Knives, so why bring it up?

Anybody that owns an earlier CKF model had to have bought it from From Russia With Knives, so I would say there's nothing to worry about. Plenty of people have received theirs without an issue.

Its probably because they have a second site that does sell questionable knives but they are not intended for us shores. At one point theynwere really big on clones. They claim not to sell them but bestblades.ru was said to be a sister site to from russia with knives. That site sells many knives of questionable legitimacy. They are not counterfeit but easily spotted clones.

Oh interesting, I did not know that!

Yeah, not much talk goes on about that. Dont get me wrong they have done quite a bit to distance themselves from replicas. Which is fine. But if you think about it its not all that surprising either. One kinda has to think they ended up having kevin john make knives for them for a reason. That relationship blossomed somehow and it wasnt from taking a stand against counterfeits. And I think that is what rubs a few the wrong way. They speak ill of them but have had obvious ties to them. But to be fair the only knives they sell that are clones now are based on rather lesser known makers like brous, doc shiffer and other lesser known custom companies. So they may not know certain models they are selling are rip offs.

We've sold 1000+ CKF and ZT Limited Russian Edition knives to foreign customers, had about dozen of problems at all.

What are these talks about clones about?

Our Russian site (BestBlades.RU) work with D-PO in Russia, official dealer of Brous Blades, Microtech, ColdSteel, Pro-Tech, SOG, Buck etc.
There are NO CLONES on our website, what a shame and goal to state that?? You may search the site and check. It's one of the oldest knife shops in Russia with thousands clients.

My best,
Anastasia.
