Here's a knife you don't see every day. This is one from my late step-dads' (Robert Ogg) collection. I'm considering selling it to finance a little shop improvement at Ogg Custom Knives. 'Considering' is the key word here. I'm just looking for information on the value of this piece and would like to see a collector of fine pieces like this add it to his collection. The blade is marked 'L51' and below that is an 'S'. I'm assuming that's the serial # and steel type. All I know about it is that Bob got it from G.W. many years ago. Probably in a trade knowing Bob.

You probably think I'm some kind of idiot for even considering selling this Bowie. I wonder about that myself. Anyway, if anyone knows anything about this G.W. STONE original, please let me know. I guess I missed the big Voyles auction this year, but there's no hurry. If you have information or comments about the Bowie, email me at: mburnett@cswnet.com
Here are the links for it:

Max, that knife is a beauty, I hope you decide to hold on to it and find another way to pay for your project.

Well, Phill, I look at it like this. Bob made an investment in his future years ago. I'm keeping his name alive with his investment. It seems to make perfect sense to me. I can make other knives. In fact, I can reproduce the knife in the pic close enough to qualify it for a copy.

When the chips are down, we do what we have to in order to survive. I know what the basic worth of that knife is, Phil. It's priceless. No dowbt about it. But, there'll be others. Life's like that. GIve and take. Sure, I'll hate giving up that knife. But, think of what the money could mean for my shop. Bob would be happy with my common sense approach to this situation. G. W. STONE was his friend. He's gone now just like Bob. But their names will live on. Someone else will get to enjoy G. W.'s knife for a while, that's all.
