Question for anyone who cares to answer. If G11 is better, why isn't it used instead?? Just wondering.

G11 is the high-temp version of G10. We use to make some high-temp parts out of it at my last company. I don't see much use (given it's cost) in the knife industry vs. G10.

Which incidentally I just specified as a material as an insulator in a project at work.

I was just wondering. I was looking at my MSC catalog, and I thought G11 was what Maddog uses for his Frequent Flyers. Thanks for the info.

I read just recently that G11 is what Mad Dog uses in those excellent handles on his knives.

That's not what he says. He claims it's proprietary and stronger than G11.

So its probably one of the other "G's". In the MSC catalog there is 4 or 5.

I knew I'd seen G11 and Maddog mentioned together. I was looking at the article about the MIRAGE series(in Tactical Knives), and it stated that G11 was used as handle material on the 2 larger Mirage knives. Oh well.

I think Mad Dog use G-11 but manages to get it made for him in Black. I've never seen it available in anything other than shades of dark green to olive.

Try Accurate Plastics in Yonkers, NY at 1-800-431-2274.
I've had everything from black, red, and camouflage pattern G-10 made for me by them. They offer the other "G" products, paper micarta, and linen micarta also.
Ask for Jeannie.

Kit, do you have an address and regular ( non-800 ) telephone number handy for Accurate Plastics? Sounds like a good supplier to have...

If I recall, when I checked the specs on G-11 compared to the specs Kevin gave for his handle material they did not match in certain categories.(compressive strength, etc)I'll have to check it out again.

Here is the website for Accurate Plastics:
