Guys, need some help here. I have a line on a Gareth Bull Shamwari locally for sale. Always wanted one but don't know much about them - specifically to tell if it is authentic. Here are some pics from the seller. I'll be able to inspect in person as well, so what should I look for? No box or papers unfortunately. Asking price from the seller is $500. Again, not sure how to judge that and if it is reasonable considering condition and lack of box/papers. Seller indicated it's two years old and the 3" blade. Any help is appreciated.

You can dig back in his Instagram to compare. I'm sure sending him a message wouldn't hurt either. Shamwari's typically do not come with a box or additional paperwork.

I wouldnt give 500 for it he has newer upgraded models now. Especially not knowing the steel and like you said no papers and it looks to be well loved(used). I would offer 350 at most.

He often sends knives out with no box or paperwork. I second the recommendation to go through his Instagram pictures. He usually posts pictures of all the knives he sells. That one resembles the knives he sold 1-2 years ago. My Shamwari had a very faint ingraving of a single digit number on the inside of each handle, but don't know if all of them do. For whatever it's worth, the one pictured in your post looks spot on to me.

His newer offerings are on bearings i believe and have some finer accents. I still think 500 is a bit high for a used sham. But ultimately its what you want.

PS- newer versions have sculpted clip, bearings, and contoured handles. He changes up pivot hardware and decoration a lot, so each batch tends to look a little different.

It’s real

And the model changes match up too. On his older ones the screws for the stop pin and clip were on the outside. The newer ones have no stop pin showing on the outside and the clip screw is on the inside.

Also the hardware looks real. He uses very distinctice torx screws.

Then ontop of that there is the fact that there isn’t any fake shamwaris being made as far as I know.

Btw I got an older used one and absolutely love it. I have been trying for weeks to get him to answer so I can get the new torx style pivot and the guy never answers. I bought mine quite used as well and payed about 400 for it plus shipping. Mine was older but was the 3.25 inch blade model.

See the changes? The older one has the clip screw and stop pin screws on the outside.

So here it is. I picked it up this afternoon. Looks like he carried it a lot, but used it little. I can carry it without worry.
