I'm taking a trip to Gatlinburg in the next couple weeks .. Has anyone been there before? I heard there are a lot of knife shops up there .. Has anyone bought anything from there and had good experiences?

It is just below Gatlinburg, on your way up. They have everything, a little high but they have a great selection.

Now a days its about the only place there now...about 10yrs ago there were quite a few places, but most have shut down.

On the main strip in Gatlinburg there is the Acorn shop...Back in the 70 & 80's they had a good selection, today, well.... not so much

By all means though....you HAVE to go to SMKW's, plan on spending a few hours there.

Please make sure you have the correct address...I had out the PO address in my original post and not the actual one as listed below.

Smokey Mtn. Knife Works is HUGE!!! Prices are more than online but they have to make up for staff, inventory and the sweet building. Definately stop and get your picture taken with the bear. They have everything! Super nice people. Make sure to pick something up while there.

SMKW is an amazing place. I don't know of any other store that has that many knives under one roof. Everytime I go there I end up spending three or four hours just looking around (which isn't very hard to do). Of course, it's hard to leave out of there without buying something. However, their prices can be very "hit or miss". On some brands they can be very expensive, then on others you can find some pretty good deals. Overall I think that you would enjoy the experience of a visit there very much.
