Recommendation? GEC or ...?

Case large stockman are good work knives, but they have squared bolsters and 3 blade, not what you are looking for.

Gec are great. Harder to get. There are still models available.

Gec over Case, unless you can hold and open and inspect the case..

GEC are on another level for fit and finish

New releases tend to make a frenzy these days, but you can still find them.

If you want something that fills the hand with no square edges ... Case sowbelly stockman should work just fine ---->

Look assiduously at the traditional sale section for a custom at around $300.

Case large sodbuster ?

If you really want something that fills the hand, there's always the Opinel #8, though it's not a slipjoint.

Your post makes me think a 73/74 size GEC is too small. But those are a good start point from moderns.

So I would look at a 71 or a 42. A GEC 42 would be my pick.

Or for something halfway between a traditional and a modern knife try lionsteel - the bolus is a good knife.

As you'll have gathered by now, patience will be required when looking for a GEC....

You better start haunting the Exchange ;)

Look into a GEC 82 Dixie Stockman, long frame, rounded sleek, and has Clip, Wharncliffe and Drop-Point blades.

Perhaps a 98 Camp Knife, they're giant :D

CASE or Queen Cutlery Hunters are big 2 blade knives, rounded ends but heavy...The CASE is over 5 " but many scales and readily available, well worth a look.
