I received the Knife in November, 2009 in Afghanistan. While in country it did typical folding knife task. Carried it everyday, used it to open boxes, wooden crates, MRE's, ropes, cans etc.... When I got state side I continued to carry it everyday, and used it often to open boxes, and cut random crap. Deployed with the knife again in 2011 and once again performed typical knife task. The knife got sandy often, obviously it got sand in the action and slowed the knife up alot, but i would just blow out the sand and shoot some gun oil into it and wala! the knife was back to opening with lightning speed. Got back state side and the knife was again carried everyday and pretty much used daily. I have sharpened the knife 5 times total.
The S30v holds a good edge for a decent amount of time. The knife needs oil about every 5-6 months with normal pocket carry to keep the action smooth and quick. The aluminum handles are very sturdy, however slippery when wet and can be rough on un-gloved hands. I have used the aluminum handles to hammer nails and other things and they have held up great.
Today, I decided to use the knife as a bushcraft knife (yes its not intended for this, but i was curious...)
First I used the knife to hack through a .5in diameter piece of dead tree branch. Well this task took about 13 swings, as the knife has no real weight or length, then I took the branch and made some kindling.

Knife did a pretty good job shaving the little pieces of stick also....

Then I took a seasoned 2x4 and decided to drill a hole into it, took about 4 minutes, slow and steady.

Then I decided to do what you should never do with a folder..... I batoned the 2x4....

I used the flat portion of the blade, trying my best to avoid the serrations, while batoning the 2x4, enough of the tip of the blade stuck out for me to hit when the blade got deeper into the wood. I chopped 2 complete sections of the 2x4 off, during the 3 session the automatic button broke open.....
