Saw this knife at W-Mart today. I must say it is the most practical design I have seen from the BG line yet and although W-Mart wanted $50 I found it online for half that. Of course I have so many great designs in rotation this one is a long way out for me but maybe some of you guys haven't seen it yet and wanted to give the Gerber "stainless" a new chance for redemption. This blade looks like a good conteder in EDC or kit fixed option.

Reminds me of my very useful Boker CLB knife.

Anybody with any experience on the Gerber please speak up, I'd love to know more. (Even though steel-wise we got ESEE and Becker blowing this choice out of the water ;))

I thought about getting one as a Kayak knife, As you said ESEE & Becker are nicer and I have a Izula & BK11, 24. For me the upside to this knife is if I lost it I would not cry...much.

A friend of mine at work has one like this but with full handle (not a wrapped /skeleton) and half serrated blade. it may be a little larger then that version but otherwise same design/shape.

Overall the knife does as intended and is still functioning after a few months of fairly hard work. I have used it a few times and it seems comfy and light. I really see no reason not to buy one if the price is right for you.

I have the older model with the rubber grips. Other than the terrible orange BG all over it, it is a decent knife for the purchase price. Holds an edge resonably well and get very sharp. I just wish mine didn't have serrations. The model that you are considering looks infinitley better than the one that I have. The sheath on the older model was crap. Belt clip comes off way to easy. I ended up just lashing it to my vest with paracord. The best thing is, if I lose it, it only cost $20! :D
