I saw this at my G.I Joes Surplus store. looks good! And is pretty cheap. only about $15.

Anyone own one? How does it do?

i got one! its nice as far as i can tell but i avent really used it yet. the saw on the back loooks like it will actually cut unlike most "sawback" knives. It can with an edge on it too unlike the cheap walmart ones. It feels real good in the hand which i what i look for, if its hurts you its not much good. I say go for it!

My friend did a review on it in Tactical Knives magazine and he said it was honestly one of the best machetes he had ever used. That means a lot coming from Jeff Randall!

if the back of a machete is covered in saw teeth, to me, that is really limiting its uses more than it is adding any. the saw back eliminates the machetes use as a draw knife and it wont allow you to hold the spine of the blade if you are doing detail work.

Yep. The way Jeff talked about it, I'd get one if I didn't already have my machete needs met. This is a man who knows doodoo from shinola.

I have yet to see a saw on a machete that worked.

UMMMMM.... So when your going some where that you need a machete, you ONLY bring ONE blade, and thats the machete!

Sorry to say... Thats not very smart....:confused::(

I always have a back-up. Which is my mora or leatherman.

plus the saw is for hardwood. Have you cut hard wood with a machete? not fun...

actually, I've only brought just a machete before too. Relax man, its fun. I've cut hardwood with a machete as well. If you know what you are doing it is fine, especially here in the south. It is in no way a subsitute for an axe but it is damn well handy down here.

I've got one and the first thing I did was put a convex edge on it that I can shave with. I used it all day hacking on just about everything from pines, vines and hardwoods. I could definitely go through a 2" pine without swinging for the fences. I like it alot. Didn't find too much use for the saw, in fact, when swinging in thick brush or in tight spaces, it gets hung on all manner of limbs, grass, vines, etc...on the back swing.

well, if you are going to be bringing more than one blade, why not just bring an actual saw and a conventional machete:confused:

didnt mean to rub you the wrong way, but you did ask for our thoughts.

I didn't mean to rub you the wrong way either, i just didn't want you dieing on me now! :D:p

It just kills 2 birds with one stone. put it this way is easyier to bring a saw/machete and a smaller knife, then a machete and a saw... plus a smaller knife will be better for carving and other small detailed work.

EDIT: plus the handle is suposed to be VERY confortable.

allright, we are back on good terms:). that handle does look uber-comfy.

It seems like a clever design ,i bet you would use the saw more than you would use it as a draw knife. With a piece of leather you could even use it as a draw knife although not as well. I do use my DFLE as a draw knife a fair bit.

The Gator and a Mora would be a great piece of truck kit without having to worry about it going missing.
