I was wondering if anyone had this knife and their opinion on it. Looks like a good deal nice stout blade and some necessary emt gadgets. Thinking of picking one up as the price is right and though not a big fan of Gerber they make decent quality stuff from my experience.

There's actually two models that are similar, the rescue tool with the unsharpened blade tip and the Hinderer CLS. The CLS is black and has a regular blade but lacks the small tool kit. The blade steel on both is listed as 440A.
A few forum members have commented that the Rescue Tool is actually a pretty good product. I might try the CLS.

it's big built like a tank, and impractical but i love it... hell i even edc'd it for a few months just to say i did it:)
good luck

JPD,
I was aware there was two models I listed this way so as to get as many different opinions as possible. I would think they are functionally close enough that I'd look for opinions on both. Then again I should have put a slash between rescue and cls and would have made for less confusion. No english language genius I am.

Ivan,
I don't know about the red, something about the way the lanyard hole/glass breaker looks on it makes me want to grind it off.

As for rescue knives I'm thinking the Blackhawk dieter is definitely in the running. Has the glass breaker, seatbelt cutter and speaks louder to the knife nut in me.

No confusion, I was just letting you know ( if you didn't already) that one was available with a completely sharpened blade and no tool kit...

my big gripe and its not bad and i understand it is the thumbstud, its way oversize and a bit rough (rough on jeans), then again if ya want a practical knife these arent it. they are a little more specific in their application... i still edc'd the damn thing for months as it was just cool looking, the serrations work great and chew though all manner of things:D honestly did miss not having a point and some plain edge, the tool kit is really cool too:thumbup:
personally i liked the red, dunno why but i do
the breaker/lanyard doesnt really bother me though.
