Welcome! Even though your mark II is in bad condition and has no scabbard it is was produced in 1967 and is worth an exceptional amount especially if you can clean it up without ruining or changing the original form. Anywhere from $750- $1250.

DAMN !! and to think i found this is in a garage sitting on a pile of hand tools .................... crazy! the guy who sold it to me was the owner of the garage and cleaning it out after a tenant failed to pay his rent ...

amazing how 1 guy can leave it there while another guy sells it for peanuts then a third guy buys it because it looked ''cool'' and the eniter time the knifes worth major bucks !! and my g/f complaines because i dont throw anything out lol ...............................

wow, i never would've guessed that. i thought you were about to break some bad news to him. that's amazing. was the Gerber MKII even that good a knife? i mean compared to today's Dirks?

OP - good score, congrats :)

live an learn, i'd have bought it for $10, but laughed and walked away had he asked for $50.

$1250 for that one?

i have a '71 with some minor scuffing/etc from use what would it go for? with a sheath?

point being i diodnt think one in that kinda shape would bring that kinda dollar.

sounds good to me though lol, if that ones $750-$1250 mine would have to be $1250 to ?.

anybody looking for a '71 mark 11?

There's a big difference betwen a 67 and a 71. A really nice condition 71 with the sheath and if the blade has no serrations could get $700 or more on a good day with the right buyers.

I really doubt if that 67 could go that high without seeing more details. What is the condition of the grey part of the grip on the 67? if the grey weld applied cats tongue grip is still looking good that would help. and if the pitting on the blade is not too bad. Also that 67 serial number is borderline on whether the blade is canted if it is that would add to the value

I can give you the name of a guy who does incredible reproductions of the original Gerber sheaths - check Ebay for 'bayoknife' if he does not have any of them up or is not on there at the time email me and I will give you his contact info. He is in Ohio. My email is vjb.knife1@verizon.net

that ''cats tounge'' grip seems to have been removed .. no pitting on the blade from what i can tell

The Mk II appears to be an early "bent blade" knife and is relatively rare. The condition would definitely hurt the value. I don't feel it's worth near $700. I'd guess closer to $200. Just my opinion...

Please stop. I sold an early one from the 60's for $125 before the madness started. I had never even untied the scabbard pigtail.

snif.

:(

I am saying if he has the knife professionally cleaned up of all rust without changing the knife from its original form and finds the '67 scabbard he could get ABOUT $750-$1250, but like VJB knife said "Right day and right buyer". The 67' year was a VERY limited production so your '71 could prolly get around $350 to maybe $500.

Maybe but I doubt it since the handle has been ground off by some idiot; that's really a shame. The blade looks pretty bad as well. I have sold a couple of the early ones around serial number 2000 for close to $2000 but they were in pretty good shape with the sheaths. And finding a 1967 stapled scabbard is less likely than finding the knife itself. I personally would have a hard time spending more than about $300 for that one regardless of how well the blade cleaned up. But you never know who's out there with a pile of dough to spend.

heres a pic of the SN , and btw i had the blade checked out by a friend of mine ( engineer) no pitting on the blade

Get real. No serious advanced collector would want a Gerber in this poor of condition. This is a classic example of the type of knife gun show horse traders hope to buy at yard sales and resell to newbie collectors at high dollar. In good condition with sheath, this is a rare knife. As is, it is a relic with no real value. Clean the rust off anyway you feel like.

i dont care what a ''collector'' wants truth be told somebody wants a 003062 ..wanna know why ? because i have the only one

Guys, you need to settle down, especially brad2008. There is no need for such harsh words. If you want to swear at someone, there are plenty of other forums to do it, try to keep this one as it is, namely quality discussions and quality users. I'd suggest editing your post rather quickly, as I'm not sure a mod would be so forgiving.

imho the only way that particular MK11 would fetch $750 is if ya had documented proof that it was mike echanis's personal carry MK11 and its been at the bottom of lake nicaragua for the last 30 yrs and was only recently found, its just too beat up lol. heck it looks like its been at the bottom of lake nicaragua for the last 30 yrs lol.

most collectors want something in a lot better shape than that, and collectors are gonna be who would buy it, if all ya want is a MK11 go buy a new one.

i would say the condition on it would be less than 50%, and thats generous, & its certainly far from being a "one of a kind" or something like that, they sold a heckuva lot of MK11s in '67, or '68 too for that matter.

its gonna be hard imho to get a premium for one in shape like that, if ya can do it good for you, but it wont be easy i bet, unless of course it is mikes EDC MK11 lol.

would you pay $750 for it??man i sure wouldnt, even if it was mikes knife lol. mines in 5X as good a shape as that one and i know i wont get a premium for mine as its been carried &used, of course i'll get more than what i paid for it, which was ~ $47.99 in '71, & i used it for several yrs so ya gotta factor that in also. but i thought mine was beat up & it only has minor scuffs and such, but it does still have the handle, and the sheath, but it looks LNIB compared to that one.

but best of luck to ya, i hope ya get what ya wanna get outta it & i really mean that bud.

if anyone wants to make me an outlandish offer on mine, i'm all ears, em me at CvetteRcR1@aol.com with all offers, i carried it in the army back in '73 so it has a special place in my heart but hey everything i have is for sale, at the right price anyway.

oh, & nice ax too by the way.
