Hey all

Is the Gerber Shard out yet or what? Its not listed at Gerbers site www.gerbergear.com but ive seen several people on edcforums.com and multitool.org who's got them even from as far back as from November 09. Anybody one here on BF got one yet?

If you do a search on Google youll find a cached version here: http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache:FkXqN2T2yIAJ:www.gerbergear.com/index.php/product/id/438+gerber+shard&cd=1&hl=da&ct=clnk&gl=dk&client=firefox-a. Looks like it was on the site at one point, but got taken off again.

Are you sure you haven't in fact seen the "Artifact" which has been out for some time?

Im pretty sure it was the Shard.

Check this link out from multitool.org: http://forum.multitool.org/index.php?topic=5914.0

EDIT: Just saw that Gerber has them planned for release in Feb 2010. The people who already have them picked them up at last years SHOT show, and in some cases placed a preorder and just mysteriously got them before anybody else.

The shape of the Shard makes me think of a Gumby doll with major birth defects. He he. I do have an Artifact around here somewhere that I've actually used a few times. Not a bad little tool for the money. -DT

The Shard is available now but only if you call GerberGear. It's not available through the website, and they'll charge you $12 per before shipping. Just got mine yesterday. A big improvement from the Artifact and the blade.

Is the improvement limited to the lack of the blade, or is it improved in other ways?

I'm looking forward to this lil cheapie:) I use the Artifact pretty much every day, but that's mainly for popping a beer open at the end of the day. This looks really ergonomical.

I rather like the big ol' hole in the handle. I pack my keys on a clip, and it would be easier to pop it on and off as needed than with fumbling with a key ring.
