I had a friend that tracked down a Gerber Utility Bowie knife that has been out of production for quite a while as a miracle find and as a dream knife ive looked for affordably since i first saw one back in the late 80's or early 90's.
i know sizes of blade & handle & weight and what it looks like. ive even handled some high priced ones at gun shows. However, im curious about some specification due to conflicting reports or absence of info that im curious about. Hope someone can help me out, as, i contacted Gerber and asking same and they really didnt answer my questions.
Whats the blade steel? ive been told different stainless steels and also high carbon steel..
what kind of tang does it have and how large is the tang?
--- EDITED OUT (sorry!)-----
last, anyone own one? experiences? durability? sheath quality? i know Bianchi made the ones like in photo above which is the model im getting. any other info you have, would be greatly appreciated.
I will be adding this to my other Gerbers: current MK II, Yari 2, Applegate combat folder, Gator sheath knife, and a few other lesser knives and higher end tools they produce..
thank you!
