Hey Guys..

Picked up a German Army SAK type knife at a recent show...

Olive Drab handles large slip joint blade, saw/screwdriver/can opener
corkscrew..

I think it is made by Kissing Crane..

What can you tell me about this knife and who has one ??

I got two for $11.47. Apparently they had several makers. One of mine is marked "AITOR". The other is marked "B&H Rostfrei". The B&H seems to have a better finish and the steel appears to be "harder" based on sharpening them both.

Victorinox also made them as the "Mauser" model. I'm not sure if they still do or not.

I used and sharpened several standard-issue knives when I served in the German Army, and most of them had been made by Victorinox. There were also some knives manufactured by other companies which I do not remember, but the Vics were definitely superior to them.

The saw with which these knives are equipped is considerably better than that of the standard Swiss Army knives, and the blade is larger. Steel and handle material are the same. The knife is, of course, not sufficient for most applications in the field, and I know that many such knives failed there. Therefore, most soldiers I knew carried privately purchased knives.

Hey Guys....

Interesting...

Its a nice little knife.. I made a neck rig for it, so thats pretty much how I carry it around..

The saw on this thing is Wicked and a bit longer than my RUK SAK saw..

One thing that puzzles me is the cork screw...

Can anyone tell me about the company Kissing Crane ??

I've got one made by Victorinox with a red alox handle. It used to be sold under the name "Safari" I've not seen it listed for some years, but you can still get the Mauser model which has a clip blade added.
This is one of my favorite SAK's.

Where can you get the Mauser? I haven't been able to find one anywhere.
