I would like your opinions about german custom knife makers and their work.
Steels that they use and who is your favorite maker (if you have).

Kevin Wilkins is a custom knife maker, and he lives in Germany. He IS one of MY favorite makers!!

We have many very good knifemakers over here in Germany!

They`ll work with any steel requested, me thinks. Although they have some steels they prefer because of personel experiences.

Just to name a few, only.
Jürgen Schanz (member of german knifemakers guild and member of bladeforums) ;) www.schanz-messer.de stock removal fixed blades and folders. Guess he`s well known here?
Murat Klein (member of bladeforums) www.muratklein.de forged fixed blades. (Proudly own 3 of his fine knives! :D )

Cyrus Haghjoo, (member of german knifemakers guild and member of bladeforums) forged fixed blades and folders! (No website, yet.) Developes his very own style and will become one of the future top makers!

Gerhard "redcloud" Wieland www.wieland-der-schmied.de forged fixed blades.
Just have an integral fixed blade knife on order with Gerhard! :D
Gerhard`s knives are made with an eye for the little details and I simply love them!:cool: (He`s a former gold smith, just as is Cyrus and you can see that in their very accurate work!) :D

There are many more but I can`t name them all. ;):D

uli heinneicke (sp?) also....most of the german makers do high end work only (above $1k)....

Have fondled some of Richard Zirbes` knives but never owned one or used one for cutting.:D
Very well made knives and real pieces of art I must admit.
May see him at a local knife show next sunday, though!?
