true... i once had a post war 70's version on whichAfter the war a lot of manufacturers like the one's in Solingen made "hybrid" versions of their existing stock parts. Sometimes you see HJ handles with different blade styles and sheats popping up without the HJ diamond in the handle or replaced with a different symbol. ... Later these badges where glued back in and the knives where sold at a premium.
It's obvious that the heyday of using Mother of Pearl as a knife handle material is now long gone.
I mean, sure, it still gets used, but the material is just simply not as common anymore on knives.

After the war a lot of manufacturers like the one's in Solingen made "hybrid" versions of their existing stock parts. Sometimes you see HJ handles with different blade styles and sheats popping up without the HJ diamond in the handle or replaced with a different symbol. They where trying to survive and made good use with their stock. They sold these hybrids to anyone who would buy them. US occupation forces, other youth organisation etc. They even compiled "original" HJ knives with existing parts post war to sell to G.I.'s as war booty without the HJ diamond. Later these badges where glued back in and the knives where sold at a premium.
