Giedymins big knives

Thank you very much for comments:) I appreciate it a lot.
I always want for my blades to be tough and ready for use but I also want for them to look good and interesting.
Also like the medieval style a lot and though i think its a little bit less practical and at the same time more labor consuming I hope to create more blades like this in the future....

I just spent the better part of an afternoon looking at these works of art. I only hope to be as good as you one day.

The only pictures I dont see... are you making them. the work in progress pics. Are they in another thread? Shop tour anyone?

My shop sucks :) nothing really interesting, except rats maybe:) one day I will do a WIP. Though I do mostly simple full tangs and use simple methods known to all.
Dago Red - about that knife: I call it Massacre Bowie. here are the specs

Weight: 676 - 24oz

propane? Coal? press? power hammer? hand made? what kind of grinder? You would be surprised how many of us would be interested in how the magic is made.

Haha. OK i will try to do a WIP or a shop tour in the near future and PM you when i do:)

now THAT is music to my ears. Not letting you slide on that either. Perhaps some work in project pictures will help tied us over? Half the fun is seeing them be made.

Just realized I do something different than most:) I use grey iron powder to protect my blades against decarburization during HT. Not many people do it. I use electric furnace for my HT (annealing and hardening), and carbon loss during soaking in the hardening temp. would be quite high. So i put the knife into a SS box filled with grey iron powder. IT needs more time to heat the blade but saves me a lot of time later and the quenching is safer when there is no surface decaburization.
Maybe i will show it in the future.
Best regards
Giedymin
