$400 and maybe some more change can put you in the realm of several high end production knives.

For fixed blades, I'd take a gander at Winkler II knives. His stuff tends to be popular among special forces but are very traditional in how they look. His belt knife is a very popular one of his

Ok, so that's probably not going to happen, so if it were me, I'd try a sebenza to see what all the fuss is about.
