I was gifted this Dexter Russell Duoglide. It is a factory blem from what I understand, never used, never sharpened. It appears to have some sort of burr all along the blade (hard to tell from the phone picture). What is the best way to get this into useful condition?

Dexters sharpen pretty easily. 20DPS and you should be good. If it has no taper spine to edge that is a different story.

Looks like it just needs to be sharpened. Put it on a Norton India stone, followed up with an Arkansas and a leather strop and should be ready for slicing. Nothing dramatic about that steel that would need anything more than that.
