Hi all, I’m getting married in July and I was thinking I’d like to get my groomsmen a gift that somewhat represents myself. Being a knife nut, I instantly found a new excuse to buy a knife (naturally I’ll get one for myself too lol). That’s 7 knives total...
I’m looking for ideas that are between $50 and $100. I was leaning toward the WE knives budget line as I have a 617(I think that’s the model) and it’s great for the price. That being said, any blades made here in the USA is an instant bonus as I am a bit of a patriot too.
Here’s a few fairly leanient specifications I’m trying to stick to.
Folding knife
Locking blade
Something with belly (eg not tanto or wharnie)
Blade length between 3.25-4”

I thank you in advance for any ideas you might offer. And if you gave/got a knife as a wedding gift a story or maybe even a picture is most welcome.

My immediate thought is Buck 110's from the Custom Shop. I think they start at $75 and you can get em engraved. Seems to tick all your boxes including MIUSA. Congrats on the upcoming marriage!

My vote is case copperlock, but somethin tells me you might not be thinkin traditionals.

Ontario Rat D2...that way you're giving them quality, but not buying a $100+ knife that will likely be used to pry vegetable cans open.

I received a Kershaw skyline as a groomsman two years ago. I think it is a good option because of price, quality/warranty/ease of service, popularity with knife nuts as well as non-knife people, and it is made in the USA. I have owned all sorts of knives and the Skyline remains one of the best I have used IMO. The non knife nut groomsmen who were also in the wedding still carry their Skyline all the time. They have jobs ranging from professional fisherman to teacher, and the Skyline works for all of them.

Another vote for the Buck Custom shop. Let you make something out of the ordinary and they engrave them. They offer other options if the 110 isn't to your liking.

Benchmade Griptilian and Spyderco Endura are two that should never be overlooked. Not the hottest new knives on the market, but two of my favorites in that price range. Kind of a generic answer but really great knives. Lots of different options too.

The Benchmades would be American made.

Why not go with the Kershaw leek in Carbon Fiber with the cpm154 blade?
That way if you get a good deal you can go to an engraver and have them customized.

Second for the skyline. I believe the skyline XL is a recent addition to the lineup; 3.75" blade is more in line with your interests. OD G10/black is on sale at BladeHQ for under $33 right now.

Are they knife nuts ?
If not the something small and lightweight may be the best option, and in that case I would recommend the new Buck alumni which comes in a few different colors and can be engraved.

If you do wanna get them a larger blade then you just can't go wrong with the classic Buck 110.

The Massdrop/FerrumForge Gent knife is re-opening for orders tomorrow. Those would be pretty sweet and elegant for groomsmen. And small/refined enough that non-knife-nuts won't be turned off by them.

On the storytime front, I gave my groomsmen and Kershaw knives, I think the scallion model. This was 15 years ago, my budget was slim and I had not really entered the stratosphere of the knife world. Even though there was nothing spectacular about the knives, some of them still carry them daily (no knife knuts for sure). A pocket knife is definitely up there in terms of useful groomsman gifts. It's still pleasing to see one clipped into a pocket when we hang out.

Seven groomsmen posing with each with a Cold Steel Recon 1 would be pretty memorable and epic. Do it man! BTW congrats!

For my wedding I only had 2 groomsman so I was able to be more flexible with their gifts. For one I did a Benchmade Mini Grip from their custom shop, had it made with his favorite colors and had a fly fishing pattern on the blade (his hobby) and then for the other I did a Spyderco Native engraved with his name. With the current knife prices and 7 people I would go for something like a Kershaw Leek or Dividend engraved and then maybe a CF Leek or M390 Dividend for the best man.

Thats a lot more than the budget that I had for my attendants knives!

Originally, I had ordered 6 steel will cutjacks in d2 for everyone. But, as this was last year, they weren't in supply by the time the wedding was about to happen.

So, I was able to find 6 CRKT pillars instead. During my planning, I also made lanyards for each one using cordage of the two colors of the wedding, representing each of us coming togethet.

But, if I had a bit more $ to work with, I probably would have gotten some spyderco delicas instead.

I have always loved the idea of engraved initials on groomsman knives.

I was a groomsman where my best friend got us all Leatherman Rebars with our initials on them.

He figured that not everyone is a knife guy, so not everyone would use/carry a knife. But even people who aren’t into tools have use for a multi-tool. In face for many people, it may be the best and most used tool in the house. I know many people who keep one in the “miscellaneous drawer” in the kitchen. The MT gets used for opening clamshells, kids toys, unscrewing battery compartments, grabbing a stripped nut with the pliers, etc... the Leatherman was really a very well thought out gift for something that would be broadly used and appreciated among knife guys and those who are ambivalent toward knives alike.

I’ll add to that, DLT is great about engraving. Go to their website and click to search for engraveable knives and then filter by price and I bet you’ll find something perfect.
I had a recent experience with DLT Trading and they were awesome. Totally saved me after Knifecenter crapped the bed on an order.

Kershaw Blur - Lots of different colors, finishes, and a few blade steels to choose from. Great size, thin, light, but very capable.

Edit to add: Spyderco Native 5 lightweight is a great option also.

Congrats on getting married and best of luck in your search!
