Does anyone know of any reviews for this item or have you used it yourself? Specifcially I'm currious as to how the handle holds up. The hinge looks a bit different, doesn't appear to be the rings your turn on normal E tools so I'm hoping it doesn't get sand in it as bad. Also the saw... I'm betting this is just a cheap saw added for gimick value but it would be neat if it was decent. The $60 MSRP I've seen claimed on a few sites for this item make it sound like it should be somewhat decent considering a cheap folding chovel is only $5 but who knows. I have seen it for $30 so at least if I try it I won't be breaking the bank, but thats still six times the price of one I could get at Walmart... worth it?

I've used mine a fair amount. The hinge has held fine but the telescoping handle will try to come unthreaded if you're not careful(it threads in place in the extended position). I counter that by wrapping a few turns of duct tape around it after I open it. I keep 5' or so of tape wrapped around the handle anyway just for a convenient place to keep some handy.

I haven't used the saw much but it will do an acceptable job in a pinch.

The carry pouch is nice too.

I'd say it's well worth the $30.

I've had one in my truck for years and find it very useful.Yes the handle can loosen, that is unscrew a bit but that's not a problem. Versatile, well made and worth it.

I have one. It digs well but it would be nice to have a larger "end bit" to push on when digging in hard ground. Bad point: The saw doesn't work.
Overall - not bad.

I have heard that the Swedish Army digging tool is very good. Really solid and reliable.

These threads that loosen... they are the same ones your turn to extend the thing?

I was more worried that with a longer handle if you pushed it into the ground and then pulled back on the handle to pull the plug of dirt out the ground the handle might bend, or the joint at the end would slip.

Do they intend for you to use the saw attached to the whole thing like all the pics show it, or is the idea that you remove the last secion as a handle for it.

And it just firgures... the site I saw it for $30, that was the item above it. Anyway It goes for around $37 at several places so still not too bad.
