Glue from animal fat

I have never hear of making glue from animal fat, but hide glue works pretty good.

Take the scrapings from an animal skin and add 2 times water, simmer. Glue will be removed from scrapings and float. Glue is very strong but needs to remain dry.

Probably a bit of a mixup, soap is made from fat, glue is made from sinew or skin or pitch.

Glue is made from protein not fat. These include hide glue and casein glue [milk protein].

Ok..... So what is the best way to make glue in the wilderness?
Thanks

Pine pitch is supposed to work pretty well and would be faster than making hide glue. I believe Cutler's resin is at least part pine pitch. IIRC, you are supposed to mix the pitch with something organic to improve bonding.

A little fat mixed in helps with the workability and keeps the set "glue' from being to brittle. How much you ask, witchcraft pure witchcraft.:D I have made some really gooy stuff and didn't add much fat at all.:o
