I'm thinking of buying a set of Filson goat skin insulated gloves.

What are your experiences with goat skin gloves?

Thanks

Howdy Dave, I was looking at those too, but the cost was a little too high for me. You can be assured that Filson will do it right though. Goat skin is strong yet supple. These should be incredible gloves.

Yes, but think of all those poor, innocent little skinless goaties running around! :D

I have a pair of the Filson unlined goatskin gloves. I was looking for a pair of deerskin work/roper type gloves to replace the pair I thought I had lost. I paid the money for the Filson gloves because they fit me like a....I can't do it. Let's just say they fit great. I have not noticed any better or worse performace than the deer skin. They seem to stay soft and be pretty puncture resistant just like the deer skin. If they stay together for a few years then they will be worth the money.

I will add that I do not wear these to do work in. These are my winter gloves for when I'm driving or in the office. I carry a pair of insulated gloves, and sometimes work gloves, in my bag. I can't stand trying to operate the car stereo or atm machine with thick gloves on. I'm pretty warm by nature so I only wear gloves in the car because the steering wheel is so cold.

I think you will be happy with the Filson gloves but if you are going to wear them to work in I would look for some other cheaper alternative.

Thanks for the notes, I went ahead and ordered them today.

I have a pair of Carhartt deerskin with insulation. They are nice and I like them but the cuff is a little short though.

When I called today the Filson person got a pair to measure and they should be longer by 1 inch and that should be nice. Also I'm hoping the wool will be just a little warmer too.

Goatskin is as durable and long lasting as leather gets. Only deerskin is more durable.
