Hey all. Looking for reccomendations on a good cigar (or many) under $7 or preferably under $4-$5.

Not looking for drug store brands or crap.

I just figured that some folks here would share a passion for the other fine things in life like cigars.

Thanks,
N2

Macanudo. They might go slightly over your specified price, but they're worth it. ;)

Try this site:

You can get no 4 Cuban Montecristos for $4 a stick. Shipping is little expensive since they come form Australiia. Get some buddies and split the shipping. They send the cigars in one shipment and the lables in another. They are a good outfit to deal with.

Mayorga!
The Robusto in the Maduro wrapper is awesome and only about $2.50 each.
Several years ago, Cigar Afficionado rated it like a 91 or 92.
Get em at JR Tobacco.

I like Punch Rothschild Maduro Maduros...$3.25 each at a local shop. CAO Brazilias and Fuente Hemingway Short Stories are also pretty good for the $5-6 range, as the La Gloria Cubana Serie R Maduro.

J&R tobacco sells short filler cigars made at the same factory as the large brand names... Macanudo, Romeo & Juliet, ect...

The total price, anywhere from $1 to $# per cigar by the bundle...

I smoke the Macanudo knockoffs which taste exactly the same but costs a dollar and a dime.

Bauza Pyramids, sold thru www.mikescigars.com , I've been smoking these for years. I can't vouch for the whole line but the Pyramids are quite bargain. The Bauza brand is made by Fuente and marketed by Mikes.

These are 5 1/2" x 55, $99.00 for a box of 25. And you get a $10.00 gift certificate.

I've seen these in J&R's catalog. I was wondering if they were as good... Thanks for the tip.

Do they burn even and hold an ash?

For the price difference i'm sure it doesn't matter much.

Haven't had them yet.
But I have had his coffee and it's excellent, though expensive.

Also, try the Consuegra's at JR's.
They're 2nds of famous brands like Punch, Partagas, etc.
Some are excellent and about $1 a stick.

Thanks for the info. There is a J&R near me that I always go to and have looked at these but never tried out. I will have to pick up a few and see how they are.

If I remember correctly, back in the 70's I could get Macanudos for about a dollar each.

I don' know if you can find these in the USA: Mexican factories "Turrent" and "Santa Clara" make some good cigars in the $2 - $6 US range.

From Turrent, my EDS (Every Day Smoke) is the "Meditation" from "Te Amo" brand it's a 6" by 42 ring size, my favorite is their "Andreas" brand about $3 to $6 US depending on size.

Santa Clara makes the "Aromas the San Andres" and the "1830" brand names which I have seen in the USA in the past, they are about $2 to $3 US in Mexico, Their "Special Edition" line is very good at about $3 to $6 US.

I think in the USA you can find bundled cigars from Honduras, often good cigars for the price, you may be able to get one or two from a local tobacconist, try around and see what you like.

Cohiba's are great, Ashton's are really good too, and a lot more available, but in that price range Punch's are your best bet. They'll range in price, but you can find some nice Punch cigars for about five at most cigar stores. If you can store them (have a humidor) you can buy cigars by the box and save some coin too. If you don't have a humidor, I'm told wet paper towel in a ziploc works well too. I just buy them when I feel like a smoke (pretty rarely), so I don't have to deal with the storage and can experiment more, but by the box is a great way to go to save money.

Baccarat's are a nice, smooth cigar IMHO

Ditto on that.

Also,
Occidental is a REALLY good "bundle" cigar that's definately in that price.

LaUnica is a "bundle" cigar line by A.Fuente that SHOULD be well under that price, but I've found some cigar shops just use that space in the cost to add to their profit instead of passing it along.
