This weekend I will be heading to New York City and I was wondering if there are any good knife shops in NYC. Especially near Canal Street. Thanks.

I'm not sure about knife shops like Excalibur but Korin is there but methinks you have to call and make an appointment. My son has been in there and they have the best in chef's knives, to be sure. I'm not sure if they have seki -cut knives and the like.

Paragon Sports in Union Square has an excellent selection of production and custom knives. Worth a visit, and the guys at the counter tend to know a decent bit too.

Mastersmiths, 403 East 58th ST. and Three Little Indians Custom Knives 192 Grand St. Both have very large displays of high end customs.

Three Little Indians is upstairs from Florios Grill and Cigar Bar. It's kind of a "speak easy, wink, wink" place as any of the custom makers that frequent it during the NY Custom Show will tell you. Larry Amoruso has good taste in knives
