Where are some places that sell lanyards? Like cool looking ones with a fancy but functional bead? I’ve never used them on my knives but my most recent acquisition may get one and lose its clip. So I’m completely inexperienced when it comes to lanyards so help a brother out please.

What about buying some cord and perfecting your own?
Paracord from one of the larger vendors should get you some decent cord.
You can search "paracord beads" and get a lot of hits. Use Google images. Use similar terms. There is a popular online craft site that sells paracord beads and lanyards. I recommend trying to tie your own.

As others have said; make your own, its easy and loads of fun. There are plenty tutorials on the interwebz.

Yes, buy some cord and make your own. It's not very expensive and easy to do with all the information available. I found that I don't like lanyards on my folders all that much. I'm glad I bought the cord and learned myself rather than sinking more money into buying other people's work.

BTW, some people around here get really upset about not using the proper terminology between lanyard and fob. Just thought the OP should know, and be on the look out!

Thanks for the responses, I think I’ll give it a go. I have some time to kill and enjoy learning a new craft.
craytab craytab What terminology did I use wrong? Please explain further, not being a prick I’m seriously curious.

I make my own lanyards from paracord and other smaller diameter cords. It's really easy. I use a modified hangman's noose as a basic knot. I don't put beads on any because I don't like things banging into my knife.

Try 550 cord. Also get some 275 cord to try. Paracordplanet has a huge selection in any color. You can buy 10 ft lengths for $299, order about $10 worth and they usually don't charge for shipping.

When you do something like a snake knot or diamond knot, try taking the guts out of the cord for a smaller end result or different look.

If you use google images when searching knots you can find a lot of good stuff. Once you find something you like try to find its name and search it. Should be lots of tutorials.
Also JD Linzens book, "Paracord Fusion Ties Vol 1" is good and doesn'tcost much. He has a YouTube channel called 'tyingitalltogether'. Also Stormdranes blog, weavers of eternity, knotguild, Ashleys Book of Knots, and so much more can get you where you want to be.

Think of knotting like a puzzle. Once you do it a few times you get faster and the result looks better as you learn to tweak it. If its a more complex knot, just slow down and look at where you are, then go from there. Pause the video if you need to to figure out where you are or to straighten or tighten it up.

Snake knot and diamond knot (also called lanyard knot) are really popular. But there are lots of options.

You could learn to plait, but thats a little harder for beginners generally. And I'd probably only use it for a fixed blade although I have made a few for people's folders.

In general, a lanyard attaches something to your body. What many folks call a knife lanyard is actually a fob. Some people take the difference really seriously. I don't, really more in jest than seriously. Here is a thread with someone who took it way to seriously and to an insulting level: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/lanyard-not-fob-source.1718742/

I have used fobs off and on. I do put a pinky lanyard on many of my fixed blades. I put plenty of fobs on zippers as zipper pulls. My favorite types of knots are the box knot, snake knot, and this one for bracelets:

I have made a couple simple ones watching youtube videos. Etsy is a good place to look- large variety and many interesting beads.
