I know alot of People use Duck Tape in their Kits, I was in Walmart today and the Maker of Gorilla Glue now makes Gorilla Tape. Says to be worlds strongest tape. Has anyone used this stuff yet and if so what do you think about it?

I've used some of the gorilla tape - much stronger (and thicker) than regular duct tape - I would put up against 100mph tape anyday (It seems more durable w/ stronger adhesive than the 100mph I used in the Army)

can any one post a site that has 100mph tape? When I was in the Army, we used od green duct tape that was refered to as 100mph tape, it sucked. If you want top of the line duct tape you need to use 3M 6969 duct tape, haven't used the gorilla stuff yet, I know their glue works so I will have to give the tape a go and see if I like it.

I am in the Army and yes I use 100 Mph tape but I really don't have much faith in it! If I am in a Non-Tactical Situation, I use just plain old Duck Brand Duct Tape! I plan on getting some of the Gorilla Stuff and giving it a try!

we use it at work, it works very very very well.

this is really strong tape.

I put a razor blade in it, to wrap it like I normally do with duct tape, had to get to it, bad idea. could barely get the tape off.

bad side is

it stinks to high heavens.

I love Gorilla Glue, use it for all kinds of stuff. I'll get some of their tape asap.

I picked up a Roll of Gorilla Tape and a small Bottle of Gorilla Glue to take to Afghanistan with me. I am sure I will find some kind of use for both of them.

What about the residue left behind after the tape is removed? How hard is it to remove? Seems to be a great product. I've been somewhat disappointed with the standard duct-tape.

Hi: Try "Gaffer's Tape" instead. It is used by the movie industry. The best brand IMHO is "Permacel". It is far stronger than duct tape and leaves no residue behind. Think you'll like it.....:-)

I second that! I used Gaffer's tape while doing trade shows, and Permacel is about the best I've used. I did go buy some Gorilla tape, and it is way better than duct tape so far. Hard to find locally though. Home Depot can't keep enough on the shelves it seems.

Just an update, I made some sandles/shoes with the gorrilla tape, and couple self adhesive velcro patches and some chunks of rubber anti skid floor tape for the bottoms. I bought some cushion insoles from the drug store.

They've held up well for a week so far, no sign of tearing or splitting, They've done well for running the couple of times I was in the middle of the street when local traffic showed up. The anti skid soles work well and take the scuffing without problem.

Anyway I went around on the net. mcmaster has a little graph of duct tape adhesion and tensile strength, I also found info on permacel pro gaffers tape (therare two grades of gaffers tape pro and utility) and Nashua brand which is availablle locally.

What I found was that gorilla tape seems to be the stickiest and the strongest, with the caveat that it 1.88" and not 2", and you get 35 yards instead of 50 or 60 yards in a roll. http://www.gorillatape.com/why.htm The price I paid is more than standard premium duct tape, but less the Permcel, but then you get more tape in a 60 yard permacel roll.

Permacel pro gaffers tape is next. The pro series doesn't come in as many colors as the utility grade, the specs are Tensile Strength - 48 lbs./inch,
Thickness - 12 mils, Adhesion To Steel - 60 oz. per inch

Following that is utility permacel and the nashus series, 357 which I formerly thought was decent tape, and a heap of lesser nashua grades down to ones only 25% as stong/sticky as the premium grades.

I find it interesting that there's "nuclear grade" duct tape, which by specs doesn't seem that special.

Also I found a tape with .002 Aluminum in it, seems cool though I don't know what I'd use it for.
